Frequently Asked Questions

Once I decide to go ahead with my project, how long do I have to wait to have the job done?

We have a 2 – 3 week waiting period for asphalt paving and excavation work.

Can I drive on my newly paved driveway as soon as it is completed?

For any newly paved driveway, it is important to wait at least 2 days before you drive on it. If the temperature outside is 25°C or more, it would be very wise to wait for a longer period of time. It is important to keep your car in motion when turning your wheels on your driveway. If you do stop and turn your wheels, it may leave imprint marks on your freshly paved driveway. The same thing applies to putting heavy objects like big clay pots, trailer hitches, etc. on the newly paved driveway.

Once your driveway has had a chance to cure, it is important that you remember to not turn the wheels of your vehicle sharply on hot days. When you do drive on the driveway, make sure the vehicle is in motion when turning wheels.

How can I stop others from driving on my newly paved driveway?

The BAM Paving crew will tape off your laneway when they have completed paving.

My neighbours driveway is crumbling along the sides. Why does this happen?

The edges are the weakest part of your driveway due to the lack of side support. Do not drive on the edges as they will crack and crumble in time. Building up the sides of your driveway with topsoil will support the edges after grass is grown.

The BFI Navan Waste Recycling and Disposal facility had a need for the paving of a number of surfaces at their facility. The work was required late in the year with only a small window to get the work completed before the on-set of snow and freezing weather. This is a busy facility and the need to maintain traffic lanes open was also a challenge.
